KISS and Motley Crue will tour Australia in January/February as part of a monster double bill, if a Facebook post by Crue drummer Tommy Lee is anything to go by.
Posting at the end of ‘The Tour’ involving the two hard rock icons in the United States and Canada, Lee said: ” A little break til Jan 2013 then off to Australia with Kiss n Motley..”
Hot Metal has heard rumours of a KISS tour early next year for months. Virgin Australia Stadium in Mackay is one of several venues said to have been penciled in.
KISS manager Doc McGhee confirmed an Australian tour for 2013 in an interview with The Music Network in January. Motley Crue were last in Australia in 2011. KISS last visited in 2008.
Lee continued: “Wow! how time flys!! Last night of the US part of the tour. One show in Mexico in a few days but its a rap for 2012 kids!! .. Been goin like fuck since Feb in Vegas!! 9 months! fuckin Whooped…. i want to thank all the amazing crew guys n girls it took to put this insanity together and keep it up n running everydamnday!! ”
The news immediately spawned a Facebook page called Motley Crue and KISS 2013 Australian Tour which quickly accrued members, with 259 ‘likes’ by 10pm.
Each band has been playing for around 90 minutes on ‘The Tour’ with Motley opening but still employing a full stage show after mastering the quick turnaround while on a similar jaunt with Def Leppard in the UK last December
