UGLY Kid Joe frontman Whitfield Crane recently visited a rehearsal by seminal British rockers Motorhead and says “all is well” with recovering singer Lemmy Kilmister.
Motorhead, who have been sidelined by Kilmister’s recent health problems, played the Coachella Festival with Slash guesting at the weekend but little is known about Kilmister’s health after a European date was cancelled last year.
Exact details of the legendary frontman’s illnesses are sketchy, with a “hematoma” cited for the 2013 cancellation.
“I went to Motorhead band practice yesterday,” Crane told Hot Metal in and interview to promote UKJ’s upcoming Australasian tour with Skid Row.
“It was me and Motorhead in LA. They said ‘come on down, Whit’. I was, like, ‘yes!’. I went down there and there was … the whole Motohead family that I love.
“He’s good man. He’s present. They’re working together as a Motorhead team. He’s a badass motherfucker so all is well with Lemmy.”
When Skid Row and Ugly Kid Joe toured Europe together last year, Crane closed each show with Motorhead’s ‘Ace Of Spades’.
“We were closing with ‘Ace Of Spades’ on the recent Ugly Kid Joe/Skid Row tour and we’ve got that in our back pockets,” Crane said. “But in Australia, there’s some AC/DC songs we’re probably going to have to whip out.
“You’ll have to see. It’ll be surprise of sorts.”
Crane says his platinum-selling band will alternate headlining with Skid Row on the tour, which kicks off this Thursday.
