Sammy Hagar Cancels His Birthday

Published on September 20th, 2014

SAMMY Hagar has cancelled his annual Birthday Bash in Mexico due to a hurricane.
Looting and violence have been reported as a result of the Hurricane Odile, which hit the Baja California peninsula a week ago. Communities are isolated by flooding and cut off from supplies of food and water.
In an email to fans who had entered the lottery for tickets to the planned run of all-star shows during the first and second weeks of October, the veteran rocker wrote: “This year marks our 24th anniversary so nothing short of a massive hurricane could have kept me from Cabo
“But after seeing the damage that Odile’s caused to Los Cabos’ airport, resorts and town, it’s with an incredibly heavy heart that we’ve come to that decision.
“Our prayers and best wishes are with our Cabo Wabo family and everyone that’s been affected by this storm. Los Cabos will recover better and stronger than before because of its incredibly strong community.”
Hagar’s birthday festivities have been a mainstay of the autumn for his fan base worldwide, with any number of a-list rockers joining him for shows which were once free, and now involve only a nominal cover charge.
Hagar says the Birthday Bash may be transferred to another venue. Ticket holders will be offered entry to the new shows, or a refund, depending on their preference.
