SEMINAL alternative metallers Kings X are eyeing their first-ever Australian tour.
The power trio has just signed with Aussie label Golden Robot and plan to record their first album in 11 years during the coming months in Los Angeles. Frontman dUg Pinnick said he hoped to combine the new record deal with an Aussie trek.
“We’re talking Australia – finally ” Pinnick told the Eddie Trunk podcast.
“The record label that signed us is in Australia. They’re setting up an Australia tour – or trying to, I think.”
Author Greg Prato this year released Kings X: The Oral History. Discussing plans for a documentary film, Pinnick said: “This guy Roy Turner, he’s a huge Kings X fan.
“But he does a lot of films and documentaries and he’s really good at it, I’m told. So we checked him our and he want to do Kings X, a real deep in-depth story on us.
“It’s not ‘these guys who never made it’ or she big drama. It’s really about … the victory we’ve had. We’ve done this for so long.
“I’ve already spent two days with him in Atlanta, showing him where we started, taking him around to rehearsal spaces. He followed me around. He’s in your face.”
